A 25-year-old Mississippi woman was gunned down by the father of her two children at a McDonald’s restaurant on June 16, the Daily Mail reported.

Authorities said the victim, identified as Kianna Jackson, was fatally shot by 27-year-old Jhonterryes Dampier before he turned the gun on himself. Jackson and Dampier reportedly share a 5-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son.

Dampier was admitted to the hospital in the aftermath of the fatal incident, but he succumbed to his injuries after two days. In the wake of the shooting, Jackson’s family set up a GoFundMe to help raise funds for the deceased victim’s funeral and her children.

“She was a cherished mother that’s leaving behind two beautiful children a daughter (5) son (3)years of age. She also was a beloved daughter, sister and friend,” the fundraiser states.

“As we navigate this painful time, we want to honor Kianna’s life with the memorial and funeral service she deserves. Unfortunately the financial burden is more than we can manage on our own. We are asking for help to cover funeral and burial costs including the service and anything leftover will go to a trust fund for her children.”

An individual who runs a local TV mounting business took to Facebook to share that two weeks before the murder-suicide, he was at the couple’s home to fix a television in their living room, the Daily Mail reported. He said that while he was doing his job at their home, he noticed the “dynamic between them wasn’t right but that just wasn’t my business.”

“I didn’t realize that i had just met this young lady at the park on Monday evening just moments before this tragedy. Her kids played with my kids. She said her name was Kianna Jackson and asked if we could exchange numbers because the kids played so well together, so we did. She talked about going back to school for nursing at age 25,” a Facebook user identified as Billie Shantay McCune-Kidd also shared

“She said they were going to go get food after leaving the park, so my niece asked me if we could go too, but I said no because we had other things to do. I would have never imagined that 5 minutes later, she would be gone. She was SO SWEET with 2 of the most precious kids. My car door wouldn’t close so I was delayed a few minutes.”

McCune-Kidd added: “As I drove up to Chic fila/ McDonalds and saw the cops and fire trucks I had no idea that it was her……. Lord please be with her kids and family.  A gofundme has been set up in her memory.  Not only was this a very unsespected death, she also leaves behind 2 young children with a lifetime of needs.”

Authorities had not shared the motive behind the fatal incident at the time of this report.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic incident, and our thoughts and prayers are with the victims’ family and loved ones. We’re providing support to our restaurant employees and will continue to assist law enforcement with their ongoing investigation,” O’Ferrall Management Group, the owner-operator of the McDonald’s where the shooting occurred, said.
