Beloved Philadelphia rapper and anti-violence activist LGP QUA was fatally shot during a robbery attempt on Mother’s Day. Per FOX 29 Philadelphia, LGP QUA, born Qidere Johnson, was with a friend in Juniata Park on Sunday evening when the fatal incident occurred.
Authorities said they believe three suspects were involved in the fatal incident, and they had put on masks at the time. Authorities also said LGP QUA, 30, was fatally shot while the suspects were trying to rob him of the gold chains he was wearing.
LGP QUA was later pronounced dead after he was taken to hospital. “It’s an active investigation and there’s not much we can say at this time,” Assistant DA Bob Wainwright said.
Authorities have yet to make any arrests, and the motive behind the anti-violence activist’s killing is yet to be established. But a $20,000 reward has been tabled for information that could assist authorities with making an arrest.
Meanwhile, tributes have been pouring in from fellow rappers and community members who knew the deceased rapper. “His music, a lot of it was a critique on growing up in poverty and advice for young kids to make the right choices, to be who they are, to not follow the wrong crowd,” Multimedia Host, Mina “SayWhat” Llona, told FOX 29 Philadelphia.

“His music was everything that we wanted to hear from the youth, it was the messaging that our young people needed to hear, and because he was that messenger and was that light, it makes us sad that he’s now gone.”
She added: “A violent murder in broad daylight on Mother’s Day, it’s just unfathomable.”
Veteran rapper Snoop Dogg also took to Instagram to pay tribute to LGP QUA, posting a picture he took with the deceased rapper. “RIP,” he captioned alongside multiple emojis.
On the other hand, fellow Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill rather had a strong choice of words in response to the rapper’s shooting death. He also addressed the gun violence in his hometown.
“Killing ambitious young bulls like this on Mother’s Day is a Philly type of thing smfh…sh*t will make you different,” Meek Mill wrote on his Instagram Story. “Prayers to you [sic] family & let’s collect some of them guns shit said out there.”
“It’s just crazy out here in Philly that, it’s coming out that some youngings tried to rob him for his chains and end up killing him, and it’s like to the youngings that did it, you can’t even sell the chains,” veteran Philadelphia rapper Gillie Da Kid said in a video. “Y’all done killed a man for nothing and just know he was a man that talked peace on the streets.”
Gillie Da Kid continued: “Philly we got to do better, we gotta be smarter man. Y’all just took your lives and y’all took this kid’s life for nothing. Can’t even get rid of the chains. Who the f*ck gonna buy the chains? They the hottest necklaces in the fucking city. Gotta do better man.”
LGP QUA’s mother, Tamara Davis, also expressed her hurt over her son’s killing. “It’s hurting because I’m still waiting for my son to walk up the block for Mother’s Day,” Davis told NBC10 Philadelphia.
“I never had the chance to hug my son for Mother’s Day. I believe in my heart that I’m going to see my son again.”
Davis also touched on her deceased son’s desire to give back to the community. “He would say, ‘I want to give back to the community.’ Everybody that knew my son from Badlands, from Nicetown, knew who my son and his mother was and the type of people he was. I’m hurt,” she said.
