Joe and Brittney Mickles-McQuirter got married in October. Last month, the couple learned that Joe had cancerous liver tumors, just six months into their new life. Every day, his wife has been there to support him while he receives treatment at the UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica.

The wedding couple, who were fighting to spend more time together, were caught off guard when a daring car theft occurred outside of the California hospital, adding to their already stressful situation.

Mickles-McQuirter told KCAL, “There are times we didn’t know if he was going to live or not. So, that’s been very scary.”

She said she was upset when the valet informed her that a homeless person arrived on a bike, stole the keys, and searched about with the clicker until they spotted her car, after which they went into her car and drove away, as she spent the night in the hospital.

Mickles-McQuirter felt heartbroken. Now, nobody knows where the car is. She explained that when it was stolen, her passport, more than a month’s worth of mail, and other personal items were in it.

She said, “I’m nervous because this person has my keys and my address. I haven’t been home, but I don’t even know what it’s gonna look like when I do go home.”

According to Mickles-McQuirter, she has submitted a police report and rented a car, but all she wants is to be able to devote all of her effort to helping her husband fight his condition.

“I don’t want to worry about home.  I want to worry about my husband getting better,” she expressed.
