A new Black-owned dating app is expected to launch later this year. The artificial intelligence-powered app known as Upfront is solely for Black professionals, sources have said.
It is founded by the entity known as Langston & Zora and expected to address the unique dating experiences and needs of the Black community.

The designers say the platform aims to “foster holistic, emotionally aware relationships” as users are matched “not simply by surface-level interests, but through deep, personalized insights that prioritize healing, alignment, and long-term compatibility.”
“The whole industry has been sitting still…What we did with Upfront was take this from as many angles as we could to get the right intersection of technology and research.

“We didn’t just develop a proprietary algorithm but a framework designed to get to the heart of individuals,” Chief Product Officer Marcus Lee stated.
The platform is described as not just a dating app but a relationship ecosystem. The founders say they expect Upfront to become “a transformative platform that cultivates Black love and wellness through mentorship, intentional dating, and mental health resources.”

An estimated $10 million has been projected as revenue within the first five years after the launch. In addition to these objectives, the app seeks to “facilitate one million Black marriages and improve the mental health of its users.”
“Real love starts when you’re upfront with who you are,” the company stated, adding that the platform offers a refreshing and radical new approach to dating.

Upfront is said to be rooted in truth, guided by care, and designed with Black love at the center. It targets persons seeking love, healing, or community. It is described as an outlet with champions’ authenticity and emotional intelligence.
